The Ottawa Senators acquired forwards Xavier Bourgault and Jake Chiasso in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers on Monday. In return, the Senators sent forward Roby Jarventie and their 2025 fourth-round pick to Edmonton.

Xavier Bourgault was drafted 22nd overall by the Oilers in 2021. He spent the 2023-24 season with the Bakersfield Condors in the AHL, tallying 20 points in 55 games. Bourgault scored 21 goals and provided 33 assists in 117 games.
Jake Chiasson, another 21-year-old forward, was selected 116th overall by Edmonton in the 2021 draft. Last season, the Abbotsford, British Columbia, native played for the Fort Wayne Komets in the ECHL, recording 20 points in 68 games. He also made his AHL debut with the Bakersfield Condors in April.
Meanwhile, Roby Jarventie, also 21, was drafted 33rd overall by Ottawa in 2020. He spent most of last season with the Belleville Senators in the AHL, where he registered 20 points in 22 games. Jarventie made his NHL debut in November and collected one assist in seven games with Ottawa.
