The Florida Panthers took a 3-0 series lead over the Edmonton Oilers with a 4-3 win in Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final on Thursday. They are now just one win away from their first-ever Stanley Cup championship. Game 4 is set for Saturday night in Edmonton at 8:00 p.m. ET.
Before Game 4, the Edmonton Oilers shared a photo of Warren Foegele wearing a Kobe Bryant t-shirt. The t-shirt featured an image of the NBA legend who was known for his competitive spirit and clutch performances. Foegele paired the t-shirt with a blue formal suit.
Fans had mixed reactions after seeing Warren Foegele wearing a Kobe Bryant t-shirt before Game 4.
"Please don’t use Kobe's name like that. Kobe doesn’t choke in clutch games," a fan said.
Another fan expressed disappointment.
"Coilers disrespecting Kobe… smh."
The Oilers fans were thrilled to see Foegele in that t-shirt.
"This is my favorite," a fan commented.
"Looking fine," a fan said.
On the other hand, supporters of Kobe Bryant defended his legacy.
"Kobe never underperformed on big stages," one X user wrote.
"Dont compare "Warren Foegele" to Kobe ever again," another fan wrote.
Warren Foegele's performance and Edmonton Oilers' priorities for Game 4
The Edmonton are only one game away from losing their Stanley Cup dream. Warren Foegele scored a goal on two shots and had a minus-2 rating in Game 3.
Foegele has only four points, 33 hits, 27 shots, 23 penalty minutes and a minus-10 rating over 18 playoff games. The Edmonton head coach Kris Knoblauch admitted the Oilers struggled to finish their chances.
"Finishing right, being able to put the puck in the net, whether that’s missed opportunities while shooting or goalies making big saves," Knoblauch said (h/t oilersnation.com). “The first and third games, we’ve liked our games."
Knoblauch emphasized the importance of finishing plays and scoring.
"If you look at our series against Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Dallas, we’re getting more chances in our favour against Florida than those three. It comes down to putting the puck in the net,” Knoblauch said.
Edmonton has performed well in two out of three games but has not secured a win. For the Oilers, it is a must-win situation in Game 4.
