The Edmonton Oilers are at home to host the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday at 9 p.m. ET. The Oilers are coming off a 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday.
Ahead of the Oilers game tonight, here's what their projected lines are expected to look like.
Predicted Oilers lineup vs. Hurricanes
Forwards
- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - Connor McDavid - Zach Hyman
- Jeff Skinner - Leon Draisaitl - Viktor Arvidsson
- Mattias Janmark - Adam Henrique - Connor Brown
- Vasily Podkolzin - Derek Ryan - Corey Perry
Edmonton is off to a 2-4 start with its offense struggling to find form as coach Kris Knoblauch continues to change up the forward group to find chemistry.
"I think we have a lot of firepower and haven't scored the amount of goals we've wanted to early in games," left winger Viktor Arvidsson said about the offense. "I think we haven't had the first goal in a few games and that's kind of trickled down later in the game, so I feel like that was the case in Dallas.
"If we break through at the beginning there in the first 30 minutes, I think we have a better game."
Defensemen
- Mattias Ekholm - Evan Bouchard
- Darnell Nurse - Troy Stetcher
- Brett Kulak - Ty Emberson
The Oilers' blue line is lacking depth, and if they are going to make a trade, a defenseman is likely.
Goalies
- Stuart Skinner
- Calvin Pickard
Skinner has struggled this season, and he will look to rebound against a solid Hurricanes team.
Oilers vs. Hurricanes: Preview
Edmonton is a slight -130 favorite at home as Carolina is on the road.
The Oilers have played well at Rogers Place, and the offense should start clicking here as the Hurricanes do give up plenty of shots and chances.
However, Edmonton's power play has been an issue, and defenseman Evan Bouchard believes getting it going is key for the team to have success.
“You want your power play to be a momentum gain or not a killer,” Bouchard said. “I wouldn't say that's the case at all because I think the five guys on the power play, there isn’t a lack of confidence, but I think it's one of those where you’ve got to gain momentum for the rest of the group. So I think that's going to be big for us going forward.”
Ultimately, Edmonton likely will get a power play goal or two and get a much-needed win at home.
Prediction: Oilers 4, Hurricanes 3.
