"One of my favorite moments": Mika Zibanejad's wife Irma melts over their daughter Ella's raw reaction to seeing her dad on the jumbotron

New York Rangers alternate captain Mika Zibanejad and his wife, Irma Helin, are parents to their one-year-old daughter, Ella. On Monday, Irma shared an adorable clip of Ella’s reaction to seeing her dad on the jumbotron.

Originally posted on Irma’s Instagram stories, the clip showcased Ella sitting on her mother’s lap at the arena until she spotted Zibanejad on the giant LED screen. The adorable one-year-old pointed at the jumbotron in sheer joy and started jumping on her mother’s lap.

In the caption of the story, Irma shared that the clip was taken by her mother when they were watching the game and claimed it was one of her favorite memories.

“One of my favourite moments that my mom captured when she was here,” Irma Helin wrote.

“Ella-Bella-bus. Vad gör du med mig, alt,” she added. (“What are you doing to me, everything”, as translated from Swedish)

Mika Zibanejad and Irma Helin welcomed their only daughter in September 2023. The couple shared the happy news with a special post on Instagram.

Mika Zibanejad’s wife Irma dubbed him the ‘best’ father on Swedish Father’s Day

While wishing Mika Zibanejad on his first Father’s Day after the birth of their daughter, Irma Helin penned an emotional message for the Rangers center. She wished him on the occasion of Swedish Father’s Day on her Instagram, attaching a carousel of pictures and clips of Mika spending time with Ella.

In the caption, she wrote (as translated from Swedish):

“Micah!! Your first Father's Day. That Ella has you as a dad, gaaahh! The best of all. I love you so much. You will never be able to understand how much. You are the best. What we fantasized about our little family, and now we are here.

“The three of us! My family! Father's Day! Haha incredible. Getting sentimental and thinking about when you were a cute teenager who barely dared to make eye contact, and now you are so obvious and fantastic as a dad. You are everything. Most important. The warmest, safe, calm, fun, cozy, nice and cuddly dad I've seen. Love You More The Ever Babe.”

Mika Zibanejad’s wife, Irma Helin, is also a former athlete. She had played for top soccer clubs in the Swedish women’s league, including Piteå IF and Djurgårdens IF Fotboll, as a midfielder. In 2016, she earned her first cap for the Swedish national team.

After retiring in 2020, Irma took up a new role as a soccer pundit for Swedish Discovery Sport. The couple, who have been together for over a decade, married on Aug. 28, 2021.
