Fans criticize Detroit Red Wings after second consecutive loss against Winnipeg Jets

The Winnipeg Jets came out on top over the Detroit Red Wings with an emphatic 4-1 victory on the road on Thursday.

The Jets dominated the game early on and gave the Red Wings little hope of a comeback, as they only managed to beat the Jets goalie once in the game. With the defeat on the night, the Red Wings' losing streak now stands at two games. On the other hand, the Winnipeg Jets, have won two games in a row.

The Red Wings are second in the Atlantic Division with 11 points. Meanwhile, a win on the night raised the Winnipeg Jets to third place in the West's Central Division with eight points.

Detroit Red Wings fans were disappointed with their team's performance against the Jets, and some of them took to X, formerly Twitter, to criticize them for their shortcomings.

How did the Winnipeg Jets beat the Detroit Red Wings?

The Detroit Red Wings (5-2-1) hosted the Winnipeg Jets (4-3-0) at the Little Caesars Arena on Thursday.

In the first period, Nikolaj Ehlers put the Jets up 1-0 after slotting the puck back into the net off Cole Perfetti and Dylan Samberg's assist for a wrist shot goal. With less than three minutes remaining before the end of the first, Kyle Connor's wrist shot goal coming from Josh Morrisey's assist gave the Jets a 2-0 advantage.

In the second period, Lucas Raymond brought the Red Wings back into the game after scoring a backhand goal, assisted by Dylan Larkin and Moritz Seider, to cut the Jets' lead to 2-1. This was the only goal scored in the second period.

In the final period, the Winnipeg Jets continued dominating, leaving no room for the Red Wings to mount a comeback. At the halfway mark, Mason Appleton's backhand goal came from Adam Lowry, and Nino Niederreiter further gave the Jets a two-goal advantage to make it 3-1.

With less than two minutes remaining before the final buzzer, Niederreiter's wrist shot goal sealed an emphatic 4-1 on-road win for the Jets. Larkin, Lucas Raymond, and Seider all scored one point apiece. Netminder James Reimer made 24 saves with .899 SV% on the night for Detroit.

Meanwhile, Appleton and Niederreiter scored two points apiece, and Connor Hellebuyck made 35 saves and posted .972 SV% for the Jets.

The Detroit Red Wings next play against the Boston Bruins (6-0-1) on Saturday, October 28. The puck drops at 7 P.M. ET.
