The Detroit Red Wings announced Patrick Kane will miss Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens due to an upper-body injury. Coach Todd McLellan said Kane is day-to-day. The Red Wings confirmed the news on X, saying,
“Patrick Kane (day-to-day) will be out tonight vs. Montreal.”
Kane was in great form recently, scoring 13 points in 10 games. This season, he has 11 goals and 30 points, with 15 of those points coming on the power play across 42 games. However, he was scoreless in his last two games before the injury.
Soon after the news was announced by the Red Wings, fans started reacting in the comment section.
"The fact Kaner is still playing in the NHL is amazing. He's paid the price to get back on the ice," a fan added.
"It seems like there is a rift between Kane and McLellen. I hope they fix it because you need every player and coach rowing in the same direction." one fan said.
“Well, this sucks. He’s getting old. Need some depth to step up,” another fan said.
Here are some more reactions to Patrick Kane's injury on X:
"L coming up now, team get injuries at key times every late January / February and winds up missing playoffs…. This is the 3rd year in a row," a fan said.
"What are pro hockey players starting to take maintenance days off like the NBA prima Donas?" another fan said.
"Damn. That’s no good. I guess Veleno will be back in the lineup tonight. #LGRW" a fan said.
The team will hope for Patrick Kane’s quick return as they look for other players to fill the gap.
