Patrick Kane's debut was one of the most exciting things that occurred for Rangers fans during Thursday's game against the Ottawa Senators. Fans present at the Madison Square Garden Arena were surprised and excited to see star actor Liam Neeson in the stands during the game.
Neeson's presence was highlighted on the big screen, which provided fans with an opportunity to see Neeson and experience his excitement. As the Northern Irish actor was shown on the screen, he was seen making a phone call.
Simultaneously, Neeson recalled one of his most memorable scenes, "Taken Phone Speech," which had Madison Square Garden buzzing from all sides.
Ice hockey has always held a special place in Liam Neeson's heart, but it was his son who was responsible for his growing interest in the game. In an interview that took place in 2018 with the MSG Network, the Irish actor stated that his son and the Madison Square Garden Arena were the primary influences that led him to become a fan of ice hockey and, in particular, the New York Rangers.
"It has to be said, [Madison Square Garden] is one of the iconic spaces for sports, concerts, for circuses in the world and when I come here I always feel part of a community.
The statement further continues:
"It is interesting coming from Ireland and Europe where we have trouble organising sporting events. But you come to Madison Square Garden in the centre of a city...it's fantastic."
Liam Neeson is well-known for his leading roles in films such as Taken, Battleship, Unknown, and many others.
Patrick Kane's first game in the New York Rangers jersey ended with a defeat
Most Patrick Kane fans would not have anticipated that his Rangers debut game would end in defeat. The New York Rangers were defeated 5-3 by the Ottawa Senators on Thursday (March 2) at Madison Square Garden. Patrick Kane entered the ice in the first period.
Before the third period, the New York Rangers led the game 3-2. However, the Ottawa Senators gave the Rangers no chance of scoring, as the "Sens" went on to score three goals in the third period to register a comfortable 5-3 win over the Rangers.
With the win, the "Sens" closed down the gap for the second wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference. They are now just four points behind the second-placed Pittsburgh Penguins in the East Wild Card standings.
