Habs forward Patrik Liane was honored with the Molson Cup award for the month of December before their Saturday night game against the Dallas Stars. His fiancee, Jordan Leigh, was in attendance at the Bell Centre during the ceremony.

Laine had an amazing month in December, earning the first star of the game four times: on December 3 against the Islanders, December 9 against Anaheim, December 17 against Buffalo, and December 20 in Detroit. He also earned the third star once on December 5 against the Predators.

In over 13 games, he scored 10 points (8 goals, 2 assists) and led the NHL with eight power play goals, which put him in a tie for fourth overall in the league this season.

Jordan Leigh took to Instagram to share a clip of the moment when Laine’s name was announced during the ceremony on her stories, which she captured from the gallery.

In the caption, Leigh wrote:

“Employee of the month!” and tagged Patrik Liane in the story.

Laine made his debut with the Montreal Canadiens on December 3 against the Islanders and scored his first goal with the team. He also got his 11th career hat trick on December 17 against Buffalo, moving up to third all-time among Finnish players for most career hat tricks in the NHL.

On December 21 in Detroit, he made history by becoming the first player in NHL history to score eight consecutive power play goals for a team. He added his ninth on the night on Saturday.

The Montreal Canadiens lost 2-1 in a shootout to the Dallas Stars on Saturday night. It was a tough game for Montreal, given they had played the night before and won 3-2 in Washington, while Dallas had the night off.

Patrik Laine scored Montreal’s only goal on a 5-on-3 power play in the second period. Laine’s goal came just 14 seconds after the penalty, and it was his 9th power-play goal of the season.

Dallas tied the game with a goal from Jamie Benn. In the shootout, Jason Robertson scored for Dallas to give them the win.

During the post-game interview, when asked if they did enough to win, Patrik Liane claimed that they played well but he felt they had chances to win the game.

“Yeah, I think we did. Obviously, they have a really good team, and they play hard, they forecheck hard, so there’s not too much time,” he said.
“But I feel like we definitely improved after the first, and we had every opportunity like they did to win the game. But at the end of the day, we couldn’t score in the shootout, and before that, so it was just unfortunate.”

He also mentioned that the team has been playing well even when he wasn't in the lineup and that they've developed a strong system where everyone knows their role. Laine asserted that the team plays hard and works together, with all five players on the ice contributing.
