Paul Bissonnette was involved in a major fight at an Arizona restaurant he frequents. The former hockey player's incident caught the attention of Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand, who poked fun at what happened to the broadcaster.
On Friday, Bissonnette joked with Marchand on the NHL on TNT broadcast about a potential hair transplant and the player didn't miss the chance to hit back. Marchand said before the Bruins' game against the Pittsburgh Penguins:
"I just try to look like those guys that beat the wheels off you the other night."
On the broadcast, Bissonnette laughed with the Boston Bruins star, but he took to X on Friday night to share his thoughts on it with one word:
"Assault."
The former NHL star was attacked by seven men at a restaurant on Sunday after he stepped in to help a manager who was being accosted by the group, as Bissonnette said.
He allegedly told them that if they didn't stop, it could cause issues. The group responded by taking on Bissonnette, and the fight spilled into the parking lot. The former Phoenix Coyotes player, known for fighting on the ice, eventually took refuge in the nearby CVS after losing his shirt.
JJ Watt praises Paul Bissonnette for incident
Paul Bissonnette was taken to a hospital after the fight occurred, but he was eventually discharged without any major injuries. The seven men who attacked him were taken to jail and hit with assault and disorderly conduct charges, the Scottsdale Police Department informed on Tuesday, according to CNN.
JJ Watt, a former NFL superstar and 3x Defensive Player of the Year, applauded what Bissonnette did. Responding to the former NHLer on X, Watt said on Monday:
“The French Dip alone is worth fighting for. Good on you for defending the people Biz. 7 goons and barely a scratch. Legend.”
Watt spent two seasons in Arizona with the Cardinals, so he has been to Houston's, the restaurant that Bissonnette says he frequently visits.
The former NHL player said he went over and grabbed the first man's arm and asked him to stop "harassing and assaulting" the employees, at which point they all started throwing punches. He estimated that the fight lasted about four minutes before it dissipated.
