As the training camp approaches on Sept. 18, Boston Bruins goaltender Jeremy Swayman remains unsigned, with reports indicating that he's seeking a contract worth $10 million per season.

According to Ryan Whitney of "Spittin' Chiclets," Swayman and his representatives are aiming for a deal similar to Charlie McAvoy, which is an eight-year, $76 million contract ($9.5 million AAV).

In contrast, the Boston Bruins are reportedly unwilling to offer more than a four-year extension valued at $6.2 million. This situation has prompted former NHLer and analyst Paul Bissonnette to criticize the Bruins for their handling of Jeremy Swayman's contract extension.

Bissonnette expressed his frustration on X/Twitter regarding the Bruins' inability to resolve Swayman's contract situation. He criticized both parties for not working things out and questioned why the 25-year-old netminder's calls were ignored.

Bissonnette emphasized the need to resolve the ongoing contract situation and suggested a deal of eight years at $8.65 million, urging the Bruins to figure it out:

"I’m actually pissed off at the fact these two parties can’t work it out. This is bullshit. Why are they ignoring Sway’s calls. Enough with this drama. 8x8.65 and hug it out. Figure it out @NHLBruins."

Jeremy Swayman is expected to take the starting role between the pipes for the Boston Bruins after they traded 2023 Vezina winner Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators in June. However, with Swayman still unsigned, the situation has become increasingly complicated.

Boston Bruins have not answered Jeremy Swayman's calls in three weeks

During a recent segment of the "Spitting Chiclets" podcast, host Ryan Whitney addressed Swayman's contract situation, revealing that the Bruins have not contacted or returned Swayman's calls for three weeks.

He expressed disbelief at the club's reported offer of four years at $6.2 million, especially after trading away their top goalie:

"Apparently the Bruins have not contacted or returned Swayman's calls in three weeks... And if their offer is four years X6.2, after you traded your other stud goalie. That's the funniest things I ever heard." Ryan Whitney said."

The Boston Bruins currently have $8.6 million in cap space, raising questions about whether they will feel pressured to give a significant portion of that or even more toward securing a long-term deal for Swayman.

Jeremy Swayman had a solid campaign last term, posting a .919 SV% with a 2.34 GAA in 25 games.
