The Pittsburgh Penguins host the Dallas Stars on Monday, with the puck drop scheduled at 7 p.m. ET. Pittsburgh (6-8-2) is coming off a 4-2 road win over the Washington Capitals.
Ahead of Monday night's game, here is what the Penguins lineup is projected to look like.
Penguins projected lines
Forwards
- Drew O'Connor - Sidney Crosby - Rickard Rakell
- Michael Bunting - Evgeni Malkin - Bryan Rust
- Jesse Puljujarvi - Lars Eller - Noel Acciari
- Anthony Beauviller - Blake Lizotte - Valtteri Puustinen
Pittsburgh's forward group is led by Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. The Penguins have struggled to get depth scoring this season, which has been an issue.
Malkin leads the Penguins with 18 points (five goals and 13 assists) in 16 games.
Defensemen
- Matt Grzelcyk - Kris Letang
- Marcus Pettersson - Erik Karlsson
- Ryan Graves - Jack St. Ivey
Pittsburgh's blue line has struggled this season as Letang and Karlsson haven't produced as much as hoped.
Goalies
- Joel Blomqvist
- Alex Nedeljkovic
The Penguins will likely start Blomqvist, who's 3-4 with a 3.25 GAA and a .913 SV%.
"He was huge for us (last night)," forward Rickard Rakell said about Blomqvist in the win over Washington. "He played great for us and really gave us a chance there in the second period. We gave up a lot of great scoring chances, and then, coming down the stretch, he was just making good saves."
Penguins vs. Stars: Preview
Dallas is a -162 favorite on the road, while Pittsburgh is a +136 underdog, with the over/under set at 6.5 goals.
The Stars are one of the best teams in the NHL, so this will be a tough test for the Penguins. Pittsburgh played well in its last game against Washington, but Jake Oettinger is one of the best goalies in the league, so the Penguins will have a hard time scoring against him.
Meanwhile, the Stars' offense is legit, and they should be able to get out to an early lead. Oettinger will shut the door to give Dallas a big road win here.
Prediction: Stars 4, Penguins 2.
