Vancouver Canucks teammates J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson got into a scrap at practice, insider Jeff Paterson reported on Wednesday. According to Paterson, Miller and Pettersson began chopping at one another following a drill.

After exchanging a few words, a cross-check from Miller impacted Pettersson. Cooler heads prevailed, although Paterson noted that it "had some heat."

However, that didn’t stop fans from poking fun at the situation. Here’s a look at what some fans had to say about this reported incident:

“Petey prob went into a corner and cried,” a fan chimed in.
“Horvat would have been massaging him and petting a puppy, this fan opined.”
“It is the Halloween season so it’s not surprising to hear of Miller fighting The Invisible Man,” another fan commented, likely referencing Pettersson's slow start to the season.

Not all fans decided to poke fun at the situation. Other fans expressed genuine frustration at the incident, calling for changes. Let’s look at those comments:

“I knew we should’ve traded Toxic JT for a 7th round pick 2 years ago,” a fan posted.
“Everyone getting a little tired of the attitude,” another fan weighed in.
“The Petey experiment needs to be over… Dude is beyond useless and might as well get what we can for him,” this fan tweeted.

There don’t appear to be any hard feelings following the incident. Still, fans can’t help but wonder if there may be any lingering issues between Miller and Pettersson stemming from this altercation. It remains to be seen whether a rift exists between both Canucks stars.

Canucks coach not bothered by the Miller-Pettersson incident

Following practice, Vancouver Canucks coach Rick Tocchet spoke to the media. When asked about the incident, Tocchet did not seem to be overly concerned by it:

“You don’t want players fighting each other, but there’s a time and a place where you want to challenge the pace of the practice.”

Tocchet was adamant about diffusing the situation, avoiding any potential escalations. Tocchet added:

“That’s part of the game. It’s not a big deal. I’ve gotten in it a few times. You move on, be the first guy to take a guy to dinner.”

Based on Tocchet’s comments, it seems the scrum in practice was nothing more than two friends blowing off some steam.

Tocchet concluded:

“I’m sure that if there was a scrum Saturday night, Millsy would be the first guy to jump in for Petey.”

The Canucks will need both star centers focused as they head into their next matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins at Rogers Arena on Saturday night.
