Philadelphia Flyers coach John Tortorella is not happy with all aspects of his team's play. At 19-20-6, they have some things that still need to be cleaned up. One such aspect involves the power play, and the head coach didn't mince words about the struggles.

Tortorella was asked ahead of Thursday's game about his team having trouble coming in and out of power plays this year. He responded (2:50) by detailing a situation where this happened.

"It's a huge part," the coach said. "I just showed you a clip. We get scored on, when we don't score on the power play, or up two to one, we get scored on, and I put Couturiere, Laughton and Travus Konecny, well, it was kind of an extended shift, and we get scored on with TK, Laughts and Coots on the ice.
"And that's what pisses me off the most about the last game, is that shift after our power play, when we didn't score, we didn't do the job, we started thinking a little bit too much about the offense, and we give them a two on one, and that ends up in the back of our net."

Tortorella said those are "huge shifts" during a game, especially when they happen with less than five minutes left in the contest. The Flyers ended up losing their last contest 3-2 in a shootout with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

John Tortorella came to player's defense in a fiery rant

John Tortorella doesn't hide his emotions from anyone, especially not media personnel. They will know exactly how he feels about a given topic. In the case of Rasmus Ristolainen, Tortorella said earlier this week (via Newsweek):

"You [media] guys hate him. Write all this s**t. I shouldn't say hate. Not the proper word to use in today's world. I just feel he's been under a microscope since I got here."

He said that Ristolainen has turned into a "pretty good" Flyer, and he's not happy with how the media treated him in the past.
