Hockey fans were quick to respond after Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Robin Lehner posted concerning messages on social media regarding his struggles with injuries, personal issues and legal battles.
In one of his X post, Lehner said that his playing career in Vegas ended sadly, referencing his recent season-ending hip surgery as well as going through a divorce. He also mentioned dealing with health scares involving his son.
Many fans reacted with messages of support, encouraging Lehner during this difficult time in his life. One tweeted:
"Please don't do anything rash. Sit down and talk to your family," in response to the concerning nature of Lehner's post.
Others implored him to stay strong and take care of himself and his family.
Another wrote:
"The world is a better place with you in it, Robin. You’ve got a lot of people in your corner, and I hope you never lose sight of that."
Here are some more fan reactions:
"Please take care of yourself Robin! We all care about you! Keep praying (I’ll pray as well for you) and please don’t listen to the voices from within! You got this! I believe in you!!," one fan wrote.
"Hey, please call somebody. We all love and care about you," another fan wrote.
"I hope you know there are MANY people in the Vegas community who care about you," a user commented.
"Hope you’re OK bro. Forget hockey, much more to live for. Take a nice vacation and get away from the business of the city and life," one user wrote.
Robin Lehner's post referenced the unfortunate conclusion to his time in Vegas after hip surgery. This summer, it was announced that he would miss the entire 2024-25 NHL season.
Lehner's post also alluded to off-ice struggles. In 2022, he and his wife filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection, listing over $27 million in liabilities.
Court documents later alleged that Lehner was unresponsive regarding the bankruptcy proceedings and didn't update his address after moving from his multimillion-dollar residence in Vegas.
Robin Lehner on legal and personal challenges
Robin Lehner opened up in an exclusive phone interview with Review-Journal about the legal and personal challenges he has faced.
"I don’t need sympathy or anything; screw that. Bring up something that’s true, and I can take it like a man. But everything is fake." Robin Lehner said.
"No one has any idea what has happened to my family and my life after a lot of these things, and a lot of, obviously, people will see in the future what actually happened."
He feels many things being said are fake and portray him as someone who goes AWOL and doesn't answer anyone.
Lehner said that he just wants a fair portrayal and for people to know the truth about the difficult circumstances he and his family have endured rather than false narratives being spread.
