The Chicago Blackhawks are on the road to play the Detroit Red Wings on Friday, September 27 in preseason action at 7 p.m. ET. Chicago is coming off a 4-2 loss to Detroit in their preseason opener.
The Blackhawks were aggressive in free agency, adding several key players to help with the rebuild.
“I’m not saying that we’re going to be competing for playoffs or Stanley Cups or anything next year. I don’t know how realistic that is. It’s the best league in the world, best players and best teams in the world. To say we’re just going to improve a whole great deal in the standings is difficult," GM Kyle Davidson said in April (via Barstool).
Ahead of the preseason game on Friday, here's what the Blackhawks lineup could look like.
Predicted Blackhawks lineup tonight
Forwards
- Tyler Bertuzzi - Connor Bedard - Joey Anderson
- Taylor Hall - Teuvo Teravainen - Ilya Mikheyev
- Nick Foligno - Frank Nazar - Ryder Rolston
- Pat Maroon - Jalen Luypen - Cole Guttman
Chicago has only played one preseason game, so the Blackhawks should play plenty of their starters.
Defenseman
- TJ Brodie - Connor Murphy
- Alex Vlasic - Seth Jones
- Isaak Phillips - Ethan Del Mastro
Chicago will play some NHL defensemen, while the third-pairing will be some young prospects as the Blackhawks can look at what they have in the system going forward.
Goalies
- Petr Mrazek
- Drew Commesso
Petr Mrazek is the Blackhawks' starting goalie and should get the start here as he prepares for the upcoming season. With Laurent Brossoit injured, Mrazek will have to be ready to go and start the bulk of the games early on.
