Taylor Heise delivered another stellar performance on Wednesday night, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the Minnesota Frost to a 2-1 victory over the Boston Fleet. The win has now put Minnesota at the top of the PWHL rankings.
After their victory over the Boston Fleet, Taylor Heise posted a selfie with teammate Britta Curl-Salemme. In the shot, Taylor and Britta posed wearing matching black sunglasses.
“Girls got swag 😎,” she captained the selfie with a tag to Britta.
The game began with an early scoring opportunity for the Fleet. Just under five minutes into the first period, Boston’s Hannah Bilka found the back of the net. However, the Fleet’s second potential goal was overturned due to goaltender interference.
Minnesota responded in the first period with an equalizer. With 8:20 remaining, Kelly Pannek’s shot was stopped by Boston goalie Emma Söderberg, but the puck didn’t fully hit the ice before Denisa Krizova pounced on the rebound and scored her first goal of the season.
The game remained scoreless through the remainder of regulation, with both teams fighting for control but unable to break the tie. Despite several power play opportunities for the Frost, they couldn’t capitalize, finishing 0-for-3 on the power play. Ultimately, it was Heise who scored the winner three minutes into OT.
Taylor Heise claims OT winner felt like ‘deja vu’
Heise’s final goal of the night was quite spectacular. After entering the offensive zone, Heise fired a shot from the right faceoff circle and the puck beat Soderberg, giving the Frost forward her second goal of the season.
In the post-game interview, Heise mentioned that her goal was remarkably similar to the practiced shot that had been on her mind since warmups.
“I had a really good warmup shot that looked just like that, and I was getting déjà vu,” Heise said. “That’s the shot I practice a lot.” [H/T Minneapolis Star Tribune]
Despite offensive challenges, the Frost secured a critical win, advancing to 3-3-1-2 and moving ahead of Montreal in the standings. Minnesota now heads to Denver for a neutral-site match against Montreal as part of the PWHL’s Takeover Tour. Coach Ken Klee expressed optimism about the return of injured players, including defender Sophie Jaques, who may rejoin the team for the road trip.
