NHL fans are disappointed that the Utah Hockey Club won't have a name or logo on their uniforms for their first season. Utah took over the Arizona Coyotes and has been having a naming contest for the team name.
However, for the 2024-25 NHL season, the franchise will go by the Utah Hockey Club. The jerseys will also just say Utah, which was shown on Wednesday.

Although the jerseys do look nice, fans weren't happy that the team won't have a logo or team name for another year.
"looks like they replaced a winnipeg retro getup," a fan added.
"Just get the Yeti(s) name of the ground. Makes way too much sense," a fan wrote.
The Yeti has been the name many expect Utah will pick, so fans are confused as to why the team won't announce it to begin with.
"So are they not picking a name," a fan wrote.
"they really couldnt decide on a name and logo by now lol," a fan added.
Although it is just for one season, NHL fans are disappointed with Utah not deciding on a logo or team name.
"Great colour scheme, …. But really no name yet! Very amateur. This is not Jr bro," a fan added.
"We lost arizona for this," a fan added.
Utah will play its first NHL game on Oct. 8 at home against the Chicago Blackhawks.
Utah's owner wants to make sure the name is perfect
Utah's NHL team will not have a team name for the first season, as owner Ryan Smith wants to make sure the name and brand are perfect.
Utah got a team rather quickly, and Smith said for the first season the franchise will be called the Utah Hockey Club.
“They’ve done so many of these identities,” Smith said, via NHL.com. “They’re the best on the planet. They’re there to go run that process. I’m not going to rush them. Like, it’s really important that we’re not saying, ‘Hey, this has to be ready by the fall, especially when it’s going to be ‘Utah Something.’
“So, we’ll start with ‘Utah’ on the jersey, and we’ll figure out the logo and everything else and what it is that we are. But that’s a one-way door. You get to do it once. And with this timeline, I think both the League feels better and we feel better to just run the process, and then we’ll drop it when we drop it.”
Smith has said on "The Pat McAfee Show" that the Yeti and Mammoth are two of the four finalists left for Utah's team name.
