Sebastian Aho was expected to be in the Carolina Hurricanes lineup taking on the San Jose Sharks tonight at the SAP Center in a 7:30 P.M. PST puck drop.
The Hurricanes announced Sebastian Aho will not be playing in tonight's game due to an upper-body injury that the Finnish center had picked up.
Hurricanes HC Rod Brind'Amour spoke about Sebatian Aho's injury at the end of the Sharks game and said:
"He did something at the end of the last game that we didn't think was that serious. But, if you're not 100%, you're not going. He'll get looked at again and we'll take it from there."
This was the first of two regular season games between the teams with both coming off a defeat in their last game.
Carolina Hurricanes came into tonight's game after facing a 6-3 loss to Anaheim Ducks on Sunday. Meanwhile, San Jose Sharks had lost 2-1 to the Colorado Avalanche in a shootout on Saturday.
Tonight's game saw the same scoreline for the Carolina Hurricanes as their last. But this time it was in their favor.
Hurricanes did not feel Sebastian Aho's absence
Sharks' Fabian Zetterlund opened the scoring for the Sharks in the third minute of the first period.
Seth Jarvis quickly followed up with a power play goal at 4:06 in the first period.
Jaccob Slavin gave Canes the lead but offseason pickup and former No.1 pick Filip Zadina scored a goal during the San Jose Sharks power play. William Eklund gave San Jose the lead scoring yet another power play goal.
Carolina were down 3-2 heading into the third period when they shifted gears. Stefan Noesen started the Canes power play with a goal followed by Seth Jarvis's second of the game.
Martin Necas buried a shot into Mackenzie Blackwood's goal guarateeing a victory for Carolina. Brett Pesce's goal at 15:07 was the final one of the game with scoreline heavily in favor of Carolina at 6-3.
With Sebastian Aho's injury sidelining the center, multiple Canes players stood up to fill the void in his absence against the San Jose Sharks.
