NHL fans react to Sidney Crosby's reported presence at Toronto restaurant recently visited by Maple Leafs

NHL fans believe that Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby could be looking to join the Toronto Maple Leafs. Crosby was seen at a restaurant in Toronto recently, which gave some Maple Leafs fans hope that he will be joining their roster.

Crosby isn't from Toronto, so why he was in the city is uncertain, which caused fans to speculate.

"Marner+Liljegren+Robertson for Crosby…get cap space to sign Guentzel as a UFA as well," a fan wrote.
"Dubas probably the only guy who’ll pay Marner what he wants," another fan added.

Other fans, meanwhile, think Maple Leafs fans try to create any rumor possible.

"Its Crosby on vacation I guess…," a fan wrote.
"If Matthews was spotted in NYC would that mean he’s going to play for the Rangers?," a fan added.

Although it's unlikely Crosby will be traded to Toronto, Maple Leafs fans are hoping that is the case.

"Sid to Toronto confirmed?," another fan wrote.
"Done. Do that trade today," a fan wrote.

It's clear that Maple Leafs fans want Crosby to be a member of their team, but it's unlikely that will happen. Crosby has a full no-movement clause but is entering the final year of his deal, so perhaps he will sign for Toronto a year from now.

Pittsburgh GM wants Sidney Crosby to be a Penguin for life

Sidney Crosby has spent his entire legendary career with the Pittsburgh Penguins, but his future is up in the air. Crosby has one year left on his deal and is eligible to sign an extension on July 1. According to Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas, the goal is to keep their captain with the team for the rest of his career.

"I think those conversations, I know everyone will want answers, I know it will be a big topic, but it's imperative that they're kept private between Sid, myself and (agent) Pat Brisson," Dubas said, via NHL.com.
"In regards to his meaning to the team and what the intention is, I think it's always been clear, I think he should finish his career with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
"How long that is? I'm not going to put any limits on Sidney Crosby. He's capable of great things and still performing at an extraordinarily high level, not only in games but every single day, his energy level and passion for it doesn't decrease."

This past season, Crosby recorded 42 goals and 54 assists for 94 points in 82 games.
