The NHL Finals seem to be heading towards an early finish with the Florida Panthers leading 3-0 against the Edmonton Oilers.
It's a tough road ahead for the Oilers. Fans are recalling the 1942 Toronto Maple Leafs, the only team to ever come back from a 3-0 deficit in the Stanley Cup Final.
The Maple Leafs' comeback in 1942 is a legendary act in hockey history. They were down 3-0 in the series against the Detroit Red Wings but fought back dramatically.
The Leafs won Game 4 in overtime with Nick Metz scoring the game-winning goal. After that, the Leafs dominated Game 5 with a 9-3 victory, shut out the Red Wings 3-0 in Game 6, and secured the championship with a 3-1 win in Game 7. This took the Leafs to their fourth Stanley Cup.
The Leafs' victory came after coach Hap Day made a bold decision. He benched top scorer Gordie Drillon and put in less experienced players like Don Metz. This paid off as the Leafs accomplished the seemingly impossible comeback.
Today, the Edmonton Oilers find themselves in a similar position. They need to win four straight games to capture the Stanley Cup.

"I wouldn't be surprised if EDM can win one or two games before it's over, but not four in a row," one X user wrote.
"It’s hockey and anything can happen. But at any point has Edmonton shown they could win 4 games in a row vs Florida and how they play? Could they win tonight or 2 in row? Possible. 4 in a row?" another fan added.
"Maybe Oilers will win tonight so that the city doesn’t get destroyed," one fan tweeted.
Edmonton Oilers face a must-win Game 4
Edmonton must win Game 4 against Florida to keep their Stanley Cup hopes alive. Edmonton's Game 3 loss was another failure that saw them struggle against goalie Sergei Bobrovsky.
Connor McDavid scored two assists but still, Edmonton struggled. Leon Draisaitl was held scoreless for the third consecutive game and an ineffective power play (0-for-10 in the series).
Third-period goals by Philip Broberg and Ryan McLeod narrowed the gap, but Bobrovsky's goaltending thwarted their comeback.
