Colorado Avalanche fans were frustrated with goalie Alexandar Georgiev's performance in the 7-6 loss to the Winnipeg Jets in Game 1 on Sunday. The sold-out crowd at Canada Life Center witnessed a 13-goal thriller as the Jets took a 1-0 lead in the series.
The biggest weakness for the Avs in the matchup was their goaltending as Georgiev struggled, letting in seven goals on 23 shots. The 28-year-old seemed shaky and lacked confidence. The fans even started chanting "pull the goalie," adding to the tough night for the Avalanche.
One fan was vexed at the goaltending but couldn't help but be sympathetic towards Georgiev as they said:
"I am so disgusted with the goaltending. But I also feel so bad for where he has to be mentally"
Another disgruntled fan chimed in:
"Get Georgiev out of net. 7 goals on 23 shots is ridiculous."
One fan vented their frustration as they demanded a change between the pipes for Game 2:
"Pls start a different goalie on Tuesday"
Other fans, however, were steadfast in their confidence in the goalie:
"Georgie will come back strong to this game."
Some fans posted memes to cope with the loss:
