Chicago Blackhawks captain Nick Foligno added some humor during the 4-2 loss to the Minnesota Wild on Sunday. At 7:09 in the second period, Foligno was called for holding Wild star Kirill Kaprizov. He didn’t agree with the call and decided to make his point by imitating Kaprizov's actions. Foligno exaggeratedly fell to the ice, imitating what he believed was Kaprizov’s dive.
The officials weren’t amused. They gave Foligno an extra two-minute penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct, turning his penalty into four minutes. The Wild scored during the power play, extending their lead.
B/R Open Ice shared a clip of the incident, saying:
"Nick Foligno turned his two-minute penalty into four, picking up an unsportsmanlike conduct after impersonating Kaprizov 🤣."
Soon fans shared their opinions on Foligno's hilarious reaction on the ice.
"So worth it. This is so funny!" One fan said.
"Refs can't take the heat of getting called out for how much they SUCK! This should done more often." Another fan called.
"He's only in the league because of his dad , has done nothing to help a team win a cup" Meanwhile a fan mocked Foligno.
Here are some more reactions from fans on X:
"Haha, that's a good one! Nick Foligno pulling a Kaprizov move must've been quite the sight" a fan wrote.
"Clearly a penalty, KK97 doesn’t fucking flop. His last name isn’t Marchment and he doesn’t play for the Stars… So no, it wasn’t worth the extra 2 minutes because it was a clear hold 🤡" a fan mentioned.
"Uneducated hockey trolls. Everyone knows Kaprizov is a Russian Machine. Dude is not soft and battles harder than any other top 10 scorer. It’s that Russian Gas." one fan expressed his point.
While Foligno’s imitation gave fans a laugh, it didn’t help his team on the ice.
