New York Rangers enforcer Matt Rempe showed off his pugilistic skills during a recent summer hockey training session in Alberta. During the training, Matt Rempe showed the youngsters in attendance how to master the skills of fighting in hockey.

While Rempe knows plenty about fighting on the ice, the social media post that showcased his fighting skills became the subject of mockery from some fans. Here’s a look at how some fans poked fun at Matt Rempe’s pugilistic skills.

“Someone should teach him first,” a fan chimed in.
“That’s funny. He doesn’t even know what he’s doing, but he’s teaching it,” a fan opined.
“It’s funny. Every fight I’ve seen him in, he’s lost,” another fan expressed.

Other fans took advantage of the opportunity to send some love to the Rangers’ tough man. Here’s what these fans had to say:

“Can’t wait to watch Rempe next season,” this fan posted.
“Rempdog in the dojo. Love it,” another fan Tweeted.
“Is it October yet?” a fan commented.

Here's a look at Rempe's moves in action:

Matt Rempe and the New York Rangers will be looking to make another deep playoff run next season. The club hopes to improve on last year’s performance as the Presidents’ Trophy winners look to bring home their first Cup since 1994.

Matt Rempe could see his captain traded

This summer, speculation has flown regarding the possibility of a Jacob Trouba trade. Speculation swirled almost immediately since the Cup champion Florida Panthers eliminated the Rangers. In this regard, Sports Illustrated recently explored the market for the Rangers’ captain.

In particular, they cited the Fourth Period, linking Trouba to numerous clubs, including the Detroit Red Wings, Buffalo Sabres, Anaheim Ducks, and Nashville Predators. The Predators may choose to withdraw their interest after the club’s massive free-agent signings.

However, making a deal for Trouba could get tricky as he has two years remaining on his contract at $8 million per season. As a result, teams with significant cap room would be the likeliest to pull off a trade.

Specifically, Sports Illustrated argued that the best fit for Trouba would be the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks are looking to land a big-name player but have failed to do so via free agency. As such, a swap involving Trevor Zegras and Trouba could work in both teams’ favor. However, the Rangers may need to retain some of Trouba’s salary to make the deal work.

Ultimately, the Rangers may keep Trouba until his contract runs out. The team has plenty of work to do as it looks to fill out its roster for this upcoming season, including signing RFA Ryan Lindgren.
