Maxim Tsyplakov turned Thursday night's Metropolitan Division matchup between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders into a very testy affair. The Flyers pulled out the 5-3 road win at UBS Arena, though that's not what fans are talking about today.

Islanders forward Maxim Tsyplakov delivered a dangerous high hit on Flyers forward Ryan Poehling in the first period. Poehling was forced to leave the game with an upper-body injury, while Tsyplakov was not even penalized despite the refs having reviewed the play.

In the aftermath, it was announced today that Tsyplakov will have a hearing for the hit and that Flyers forward Scott Laughton was fined $5,000 for cross-checking Tysplakov later in the contest. Fans have shared their reactions to the news on X.

"Still no McDavid fine? Do you want elbows to the head out of the game or not?," one fan wrote on X.
"What a jooooke, clown league," another fan wrote on X.
"And he'd do it again," another fan wrote.

Fan reactions are continuing to pour in following the announcement of the fine.

"But the hit on Poehling was legal? Right...," one fan wrote on X.
"What about McDavid? Or is he above the rules," another fan wrote.
"Scott what is your Venmo I can chip in $10," one more fan wrote.

Fans clearly won't be satisfied until they hear the results of Maxim Tsyplakov's hearing later today. They also aren't thrilled that Connor McDavid walked away scot-free after his elbow to the hit of Minnesota Wild forward Marcus Johansson on Wednesday night.

This could be the first suspension of Maxim Tsyplakov's NHL career

Maxim Tsyplakov is in his rookie campaign for the New York Islanders. The 26-year-old was undrafted and signed by the Isles to a one-year, $950,000 contract this past offseason.

Having played just 44 games in his NHL career to date, Tsyplakov has no history of suspension or fines. This will play a factor in the Department of Player Safety's decision and the potential length of the ban they hand out.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound winger has been productive as a rookie with 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in his first 44 games played. He's also shown the ability to play a physical style having already laid 101 hits this season. Though it appears he might have crossed the line on this hit. New York will have to make arrangements for the possibility that they'll be without his services this weekend.

The Islanders are back in action at home on Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. EST at UBS Arena.
