Late NHLer Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau’s sister Katie Gaudreau wished her partner Devin Joyce with a special message on his birthday this week. She was set to get married to Joyce on Aug. 30 last year, but a tragic road accident claimed the lives of her two brothers the day before.
On Tuesday, Katie shared a carousel of pictures on her Instagram featuring special moments with Devin and wrote a heartfelt birthday wish for her partner. She mentioned how much she loves him and expressed her gratitude for always being her support system.
“Happy Birthday to the love of my life. I thought I loved you the most I possibly could 10 years ago but that could never compare to the love I have for you today. Thank you for everything you do for our family. You constantly put my needs before your own and carry me through all the struggles and happiness,” she wrote in the caption.
Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were in Salem County, New Jersey, to attend their sister’s wedding in late August. The two brothers went cycling on the evening before the wedding when an allegedly drunk driver struck them with his truck.
Katie postponed the wedding afterwards and shared on Instagram that she had engraved her late brothers’ initials, "J&M," on her wedding band.
