The NHL is celebrating Goalie Week from Aug. 26 to Sept. 1. Ahead of the 2024-25 season, the league paid tribute to the best netminders with a highlight reel of some remarkable saves. The footage was released on Wednesday via the NHL Network on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Over the minute-long highlight reel, fans were treated to an exceptional display of goaltending. This year's NHL Goalie Week highlight video was one for the ages.

Fans reacted to the footage, celebrating many goalies.

"Hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling that Sorokin is going to have a monster year this year. He seemed distracted last year," one wrote.
"Next year's version will be UPL highlights," one joked.
"Great saves!," another added.

Others also weighed in on the video:

"Thanks for saving the best (Bob) for last," one wrote.
"That lundqvist save," another added.

Earlier in the week, the NHL Network opened up Goalie Week with a debate regarding the greatest netminder in NHL history, kicking off the 2024 Goalie Week with a bang.

Since then, the account has taken a look at netminders who recorded a win in their one and only NHL game, as well as players like Kevin Weekes who had some incredibly clean gear throughout their career.

Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck opens up on how his dog influenced his mask design

As a part of NHL Network's Goalie Week, the network's account on X, formerly known as Twitter, reposted a clip of Winnipeg netminder Connor Hellebuyck from earlier this season.

After a breakout year during the 2018-19 season, Hellebuyck caught the attention of fans with his mask design, which featured his dog. During an episode of Players Only from last season, Hellebuyck spoke about his mask designs over the years, explaining how his dog has had an impact on him and his mask designs.

"He's a great looking malmute, and he's been the glue to our family for the last seven, eight years. And I think he's like, he is a perfect representation of Winnipeg as wel..
"I just thought throwing him on there is a little piece of me and, and home, because through the mask, you can either show your home city all the time, or you can kind of give a little piece of who you are and your personal life."

Of course, apart from players showing off their home city or a glimpse at who they are, some netminders design their masks with humor and entertainment in mind. For example, at one point, Logan Thompson attempted to get a mask design approved featuring famed cartoon characters Beavis and Butthead.

Because of the political imagery and the representations of US presidential candidates Donald Trump and Joe Biden, the design wasn't approved.
