NHL fans react to Dallas Stars buying out Ryan Suter's contract

Following the news being reported that the Dallas Stars are set to buyout Ryan Suter, NHL fans had varying reactions. Suter had one year left on his deal that was set to pay him $3.65 million.

Suter signed a four-year, $14.6 million deal with the Stars in 2021 after being bought out by the Minnesota Wild. After three years with Dallas, the Stars have bought him out which will save the team $1.4 million this season.

It is the second time Suter has been bought out in his career, prompting an interesting response from fans.

"The double buyout is wild," a fan said.
"So he gets paid off two buyouts now?" another fan said.

Some fans were impressed that Suter will be getting paid by both the Wild and Stars next season, and then by whatever team signs him.

"He has the best agent," a fan said.
"So he's getting paid to not play for *two* teams next season?" another fan said.

Other fans, meanwhile, are glad Dallas bought him out as they thought his play had decreased.

"If I would have saw this last season I’d be throwing a party but he didn’t play near as bad this year. But the stars have a lot of youth coming up that can take his spot so this isn’t a bad decision," another fan added.

After Dallas buyout Ryan Suter, they will have just over $17.6 million in cap space.

With the additional cap space, the Stars will likely try and re-sign Chris Tanev who they traded for at the trade deadline.

Ryan Suter was a workhorse for the Stars

After Ryan Suter was bought out by the Minnesota Wild, he signed with the Dallas Stars and played a key role for the team.

Ryan Suter played in all 82 games in each of the three years he was there, but his speed has slowed down at age 39, which was expected. However, his play in the playoffs was not up to par and Dallas has now decided to move on.

Last year with the Stars he recorded 2 goals and 15 assists for 17 points in 82 games. In the playoffs, he added 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points in 19 games.
