Tampa Bay Lightning suffers a 1-0 shutout defeat to Arizona Coyotes

The Tampa Bay Lightning were defeated 1-0 by the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday after the game had to be settled by a shootout. Nick Schmaltz and Clayton Keller scored in the shutout, while goaltender Connor Ingram played a critical role, making two key stops to lead the Coyotes to victory.

This was the second defeat for the Lightning in their past five outings. Lightning fans did not seem to be satisfied with their team's results. Following the defeat, Lightning fans flooded Twitter with their reactions.

With this setback, the TB Lightning remain in third place in the Atlantic Division with 73 points after 54 games. Nikita Kucherov has been the Lightning's leading goal scorer this season, leading the team with 78 points on 21 goals and 57 assists.

The Arizona Coyotes improved their total points slightly and presently sit seventh in the Central Division with 46 points after 55 games played. Clayton Keller has been leading the the team in goalscoring with 50 points on 21 goals and 29 assists.

Connor Ingram was the game's hero and recorded 47 saves against the Tampa Bay Lightning

The name Ingram was a hot topic at the Mullett Arena when the Lightning took on the Coyotes. Connor Ingram made 47 saves in this shutout game, becoming only the second goalkeeper to do so in the first shutout game after Darren Jensen.

After achieving this remarkable accomplishment, Ingram’s happiness was on a different level and expressed his thoughts (via NHL.com).

"Yeah, I was thinking about (shutout), especially near the end. I'd never had one in the league. It's a lifelong dream."

Connor Ingram will now be hoping to continue with his current form when the Coyotes face the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Crypto.com Arena. The puck is scheduled to drop at 10:30 p.m ET.
