Hockey fans reacted strongly after Canada lost 4-1 to Team USA at the 2025 World Juniors. Team USA topped Group A while Canada finished third. Canada will now play Czechia in the quarter-finals.

TSN shared a post on X/Twitter:

"USA BEATS CANADA AND FINISHES AT THE TOP OF GROUP A! Canada will face Czechia in the quarter-finals #World Juniors"

Following this, NHL fans reacted with mixed comments on X. Some fans criticized Canada's performance, while others supported Team USA for their strong showing:

"Worst Canadian team ever," a fan said.
"This is America’s sport now. Thank you for handing over the keys Canada. Enjoy lacrosse while you still can," another fan commented.
"Canada lost to Lativa & barely beat Germany. Not surprised," one X user said.

Here are some more reactions from fans on X:

"With zero discipline, Canada shouldn't even bother showing up to the quarters. We do this every game. Good game to USA," a fan said.
"Canadian s**t show again. They actually deserve to lose," another fan said.
"It’s Canadian team has the least amount of discipline I have ever seen of any team. They’re just so bad," a fan tweeted.

Team USA capitalizes on Canada's penalties in 2025 World Juniors

Team USA took advantage of Canada's penalties as they scored three goals on seven power plays. Cole Hutson and Cole Eiserman each had a goal and an assist. Ryan Leonard added an empty-net goal in the final minutes.

Canada had a rough tournament. They won 4-0 against Finland but lost 3-2 to Latvia and beat Germany 3-0. Team USA won their games against Germany (10-4) and Latvia (5-1), but lost 4-3 to Finland in overtime.

Canada struggled to capitalize on their power plays. They allowed the U.S. to score three goals on their own power plays. Bradley Nadeau scored Canada’s only goal off a pass from Brayden Yager.

This game was the first meeting between the teams on New Year's Eve since 2016. Back then, Canada won 3-1 in Toronto. John Tavares, captain of the Maple Leafs, has been watching Canada's performance and mentioned the challenges they faced.

Both Team USA and Canada have qualified for the next rounds. On Thursday, the World Juniors continue with the four quarterfinal games. At 2:30 p.m. ET, the United States will play Switzerland.

Fans can watch it on NHL Network or TSN3/4/5. Later, at 7:30 p.m. ET, Canada faces Czechia and this game will air on NHL Network and TSN.
