The Anaheim Ducks' move to offer free broadcasts of their games for the upcoming 2024-25 NHL season has sent shockwaves through the hockey world.

By partnering with A Parent Media Co. Inc. and FOX 11 Plus, the Ducks have crafted a groundbreaking strategy that promises to make hockey more accessible than ever before.

The newly formed Victory+ streaming service, coupled with over-the-air television broadcasts, ensures that every fan in the Los Angeles regional market can follow their team without any financial barriers.

This innovative approach struck a chord with fans, with one commenting on X/Twitter:

"Let’s go! This is how you grow the game of hockey!”

Another fan appreciated this move:

"That’s how you show you care about your actual fans and not just the corporate money machine. Well done"

Here are some more fan reactions on X:

"You guys ROCK! What a way to increase viewership and grow hockey. Wish the rest of the league would learn from this. You make it easy to be a fan." one fan said.
"Happy for you, Ducks fans. Happy. Super happy. Sooooo happy for you guys. Yes, super happy!" another fan wrote.
"THIS! Thank you! An OC team that actually wants to find ways for their fans to watch! The Angels need to pay attention here!" another fan added.
"Major W (esp for those of us without Bally), looking forward to catching more games this season," a fan said.

Anaheim Ducks President Aaron Teats gives broadcast update

Ducks President Aaron Teats made an announcement on Tuesday regarding the team's television broadcasting plans for the upcoming NHL season (via NHL.com):

"We are so pleased to announce that fans in our entire television market, via stream or traditional television [cable or over-the-air] will see locally broadcast games free of charge," Teats said.
"It is a significant organizational priority to connect Ducks fans with our entire market and for every fan in our region to have the opportunity to watch Ducks games without cost across multiple, accessible platforms," he added.

Teats also expressed gratitude to the team's longtime regional broadcast partners Diamond Sports Group and Bally Sports, who were partners over the last 25 years.

Teats further emphasized the organization's commitment to accessibility and connecting with fans across the region.
