NHL fans had mixed reactions to Florida Panthers' forward Matthew Tkachuk's mouthguard being placed in the Hockey Hall of Fame. The excitement started when NHL insider Alex Baumgartner shared a picture on X, captioning it,
"The Florida Panthers Stanley Cup champions display is now up at the Hockey Hall of Fame."
Baumgartner later shared a close-up picture of Tkachuk's mouthguard from the display, saying,
"Everyone is excited about the mouthguard… here you go."
The picture quickly spread to the hockey subreddit on Reddit, where NHL fans reacted.
"I thought Kreider tossed that out for him," One fan joked referring to an earlier incident with Chris Kreider during the New York Rangers Eastern Conference finals series.
"And McDavid's lucky sockswill be next to it." another fan said,
"Have to wonder what the mouthguard budget is for Chucky. Like when Florida made the trade for him did they have to double check with their equipment manager that they would have enough funds to cover mouthguard costs?" a fan said,
Other fans shared their thoughts on this unusual addition to the Hall of Fame.
"Why would you even wear one if you were gonna use it as chewing gum?" a fan said.
"Crazy that while a kid started playing mini mite hockey he started messing around and chewing on his mouthguard instead of sticking his tongue through his lips to concentrate. And now this thing is in the hockey hall of fame." another fan said.
"I don’t think that thing can be classified as a mouth guard anymore lol. Thats not guarding a damn thing." a fan said.
