"Unfortunate, but don’t forget there are 31 other teams out there that don’t have Connor McDavid and they are still competitive," one fan wrote.

Some fans hope that other players will step up in McDavid's absence.

"Well it could be worse, but that means Draisaitl can prove he's worth his contract, and it forces the others to work harder," a fan said.

"I hate him being injured but I do like the idea of the culture of the team getting a shake up," one fan said.
"It’s fine. @EdmontonOilers that’s why it’s a team sport. We bought Arvidsson and Skinner. We got leaders like Leon Nuuge, Nurse, Bouch, Ekholm, Henrique, Brown, Janmaark," another said.

McDavid’s injury leaves a big hole in the lineup. Fans are eager to see how the Oilers will perform without their star player.

Details on Connor McDavid's injury

Connor McDavid's injury happened on Monday and was first called a lower-body issue. Per the Oilers' announcement on Wednesday, he will be out for two to three weeks. If McDavid returns by Nov. 14, he will miss six games. This is tough for the Oilers, who are struggling to score with just 2.20 goals per game.

His absence may allow Adam Henrique or Jeff Skinner to move into a top-six role. If Skinner moves up, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins might have to play center. The Oilers have a record of 4-5-1 and are sixth in the Pacific Division with nine points. McDavid's injury puts extra pressure on the team to perform better.
