Ilya Samsonov's first win in 43 days has Leafs fans speculating

Ilya Samsonov had a fantastic comeback game for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He got his first win since December 9. This happened in a game against the Seattle Kraken at Climate Pledge Arena on Sunday. The 26-year-old goaltender, who was making only his second appearance of the month, showed a lot of strength and calmness. He successfully blocked 16 important shots, helping Maple Leafs win the game 3-1.

Ilya Samsonov had a rough patch in December, losing five games straight. He had a tough 5.32 GAA and a .811 save rate. But, a strong game against the Kraken boosts hope for Leafs supporters. They think he might get back to his best form again.

The game also showcased the offensive prowess of key players. Auston Matthews kept up his scoring run. He's made five goals in the last four games, playing a big part in the Leafs doing well. Nicholas Robertson also scored, proving the team's got a lot of skill and can get points from different players.

In addition to Samsonov's stellar goaltending, the Leafs' defensive efforts were commendable. The team's ability to bounce back from a 6-4 loss to the Vancouver Canucks the previous day highlighted their resilience and determination.

Speculation is rife among NHL fans, with many acknowledging that it might take some time for Ilya Samsonov to fully regain his old form after making a comeback.

For the Kraken, Jordan Eberle managed to find the scoresheet with a goal, but Joey Daccord's 23 saves weren't enough to overcome the Maple Leafs.

Ilya Samsonov anchors Maple Leafs to 3-1 victory over Kraken

The Toronto Maple Leafs secured a 3-1 victory over the Seattle Kraken. Auston Matthews showcased his offensive prowess, notching his NHL-leading 38th goal of the season at 7:06 in the first period. Mitch Marner's precision pass from below the goal line set up Matthews, who skillfully maneuvered between his legs and scored with a backhand past Seattle goaltender Joey Daccord's left pad.

Adding to their score in the second period, the Maple Leafs amped it up to 2-0. The credit goes to Nick Robertson's successful strike. The play began with Tyler Bertuzzi tossing a high-arcing pass over to Max Domi. He skimmed the puck beneath Kraken defender Brian Dumoulin's stick, placing it before Robertson at the perfect spot. Making the most of his chance, Robertson fired the puck straight into the net at 2:51.

It became intense as the Kraken battled to diminish the 2-1 lead, breaking in at 14:03 right in the second chunk of the game. Jordan Eberle didn't waste time; he utilized a chance as Jared McCann tweaked Tomas Tatar's blast. Then, with precision, he beat Ilya Samsonov with a clear shot sliding past his left padding.

Moving to the game's end, Jake McCabe clinched the win for the Maple Leafs. He produced an unchallenged goal into the empty net, confirming the final score as 3-1.
