PWHL Toronto forward Natalie Spooner shared some adorable moments from her son Rory’s second birthday on Instagram. The celebration featured a shark theme, given Rory’s love for Baby Shark, dancing, and all things fun.
On Friday, the Scepters superstar shared a carousel of pictures on her Instagram account from the birthday party. In the caption, Spooner wrote:
“📣We have a 2 year old!!! 🥳2️⃣🎈 Rory loves baby shark, dancing, dogs, vacuuming, going to gymnastics and watching the Zamboni! I don’t know how 2 years has flown by so fast, but it’s been the best getting to watch him grow.”
In the first image, Rory can be seen holding a shiny blue balloon shaped like the number "2" with a big smile in their living room filled with family and friends enjoying the party. Natalie Spooner then shared a family picture with her husband Adam Redmond and young Rory. Rory wore a special “BIRTHDAY SHARK” t-shirt as he sat on his mother’s lap.
Another snap showed Rory wearing a shark mask, holding a blue shark plushie. The final photo saw Rory seated in a small blue couch in front of shimmering streamers, balloons, and a giant “2” balloon.
Natalie Spooner’s son Rory makes her ‘flip that switch’
Although Natalie Spooner is already a legend, professional hockey is only one part of her life. During an interview with The Toronto Star, Spooner mentioned that she finds her most important role at home with her son, Rory.
As a first-time mom, Spooner opened up on how Rory helps her shift her focus completely between work and family.
“I’m able to be super present at the rink, but as soon as I get home, it kind of just turns off and I’m all Rory,” she said. “Rory makes me flip that switch. I wasn’t good at it before, but he’s going to be smashing his head on something if I’m not watching him.”
Natalie Spooner is married to Adam Redmond, a sports medicine sales agent based in Mississauga, Ontario. The couple tied the knot on July 7, 2021, and welcomed Rory on Dec. 6, 2022.
Redmond studied biomechanics and kinesiology at the University of Calgary. He previously served as an assistant coach for the University of Calgary Dinos men’s hockey team and the PWHPA’s Team Sonnet Toronto.
