The Boston Bruins, seeking to end their three-game losing streak, hosted the struggling New York Islanders at TD Garden on Sunday. However, the Islanders, also riding a three-game winless streak, had other plans. They handed the Bruins a heartbreaking 5-4 defeat, prolonging Boston's wait for its first win of the year.

The Boston Bruins initially took the lead with Cole Koepke's seventh goal of the season at 3:01 of the first period. However, the Islanders quickly responded with Bo Horvat's short-handed goal 21 seconds later, tying the game 1-1. Ryan Pulock then gave the visitors the lead at 5:33.

In the second period, Anders Lee scored his first goal of the night at 4:11, extending the Islanders' lead to 3-1. Justin Brazeau narrowed the deficit to 3-2 midway through the period. Lee scored his second goal at 3:41 of the third period, doubling the lead to 4-2. David Pastrňák then scored two consecutive goals at 4:35 and 12:42, tying the game 4-4 and sending it to overtime.

Notably, Pastrňák had also scored two goals in the Bruins' 6-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs the previous night. This achievement marked a historic milestone for Pastrňák, as he became the fourth player in Bruins history to score two-plus goals on back-to-back days on multiple occasions. Ultimately, Bo Horvat sealed the win for the Islanders with his second goal of the night in overtime.

Following the team's fourth straight loss, a significant number of Boston Bruins fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their disappointment with the team's recent performance.

"Trade the captain. No leadership. Getting in the way of being able to manage team. Worse than a leadership void," wrote a fan.
"Gonna be a seven game losing streak by next Sunday. And counting," noted another.
"Fire everyone bro this is shameful lol," one fan wrote.

The Boston Bruins' fourth consecutive loss has sparked a firestorm of criticism. Interim coach Joe Sacco has faced disapproval for his team's performance, while some have questioned Brad Marchand's leadership. However, the majority of the critique has been directed at 30-year-old Finnish goaltender Joonas Korpisalo, who allowed five goals against the struggling New York Islanders.

"Korpo is starting to really suck. 5 GA against the Islanders of awful," wrote one fan.
"Worst goalies in the league. This season is an embarrassment", reacted another.
"That was the worst goal to give up in OT Jesus Korpo," wrote another fan.

Despite the Boston Bruins' 5-4 loss to the New York Islanders on Sunday, David Pastrňák's recent performance has been a bright spot for the team. Although his current season totals are not yet comparable to his impressive averages of 54 goals over the past two seasons, Pastrňák appears to be heating up.

Pastrňák's impressive scoring streak continued on Sunday, as he scored two consecutive goals in the third period, tying the game 4-4 and sending it to overtime. Notably, he has scored four goals in the last two games, bringing his season total to 17. This achievement follows his two-goal performance in the Bruins' 6-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs the previous night.

David Pastrňák's back-to-back multi-goal games mark a historic milestone, as he becomes the fourth player in Bruins history to achieve this feat on multiple occasions. With 40 games remaining in the season, his resurgence could be a crucial factor in Boston's quest to turn its season around.
