Connor McDavid is one of the best players in the NHL and helped lead the Edmonton Oilers to the Stanley Cup Final last season. However, the Oilers lost in seven games to the Florida Panthers.

It was a heartbreaking end for McDavid and the Oilers. Ahead of the 2024-25 NHL season, the NHL's official X (formerly Twitter) account posted a question asking fans what is in store for McDavid this season.

The question got a good debate and plenty of unique answers from fans.

"Traded to Toronto," a fan said.

"This will be his best season ever. He’s on a mission. And I’m fortunate enough to have lower bowl season tickets. It’s going to be epic," another fan said.

After the heartbreak of losing the Stanley Cup, many fans expect McDavid and the Oilers to hoist the Stanley Cup.

"I think his focus is more on winning the Cup now, probably takes his foot of the pedal a bit to preserve energy for a long playoff run, but that's probably still 125-135 pts this upcoming season," a fan wrote.

McDavid is the best player in the NHL and fans are excited to continue to watch him in his prime.

"It’s Connor McDavid so pretty much McDavidish things like undressing several D,breaking people’s ankles with sick moves,how the hell did he see that guy passes and majestic goals. Be great for the game if he gets Cup win but the golie/D situation holds team back," a fan added.

"Another season of ridiculous numbers cause he's an absolute beast," a fan wrote.

McDavid recorded 32 goals and 100 assists for 132 points in 76 games last season. Since entering the NHL in 2015, he has skated in 645 games recording 335 goals and 647 assists for 982 points.

Connor McDavid explains factors that will lead to extension

Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid has two years left on his contract, but he is eligible to sign an extension on July 1.

Although McDavid can't sign an extension, it is a talking point, and he opened up on the factors that could lead to an extension.

“Everything’s a factor,” McDavid said, via NHL.com. “Obviously, my loyalty to Edmonton, the fans, the organization, the loyalty to the players, all while understanding my will to win, my desire to win.

"All while balancing my family, my need to see them and spend time with them and make sure the people I care about are good. I think there are so many factors that go into a decision like that.”

After Leon Draisaitl signed an extension with the Oilers, many assumed McDavid would sign a lengthy extension on July 1 but that did not happen.
