Trevor Zegras recently shared a video of Frank Vatrano and his daughter, Ophelia, announcing Vatrano's contract extension. The Anaheim Ducks posted the video on Instagram, where Vatrano spoke directly to the fans. He thanked the Ducks' fans, teammates, and staff for welcoming his family when they arrived three years ago.

"Hey, Ducks fans. Frank Vatrano and Ophelia here. Just wanted to make a little announcement. You know, ever since my family and I got here three years ago, you know, fans, teammates and staff, you welcomed us with open arms, and it's something that we'll be forever grateful for," Vatrano said.

Vatrano also expressed his excitement about the future, saying that the team is heading in the right direction to build a winning culture. Vatrano added that he was thrilled to sign a three-year, $18 million extension with the Ducks.

"I see how bright our future is here, and we're making turns in the right direction to build a winning culture and ultimately bring a Stanley cup here to to Anaheim," Vatrano added. "With that being said, I couldn't be happier to say that I signed a three year extension to stay on here in Anaheim and decided to help this team grow and be a part of the future here."

Zegras, Vatrano’s teammate, shared the video on his Instagram story.

Vatrano's contract has an average annual value of $4.57 million. He will earn $3 million each of the following three seasons. The remaining $9 million is deferred salary, which will start after 2035.

Vatrano, 30, was undrafted and had a chance to become an unrestricted free agent. He has been a key player for the Ducks, with 23 points (11 goals, 12 assists) in 38 games this season. Last season, he scored a career-high 37 goals in 82 games.

Anaheim Ducks surge in performance and Frank Vatrano's role

Meanwhile, Anaheim Ducks are on a tear in their last five games. Starting with the Edmonton Oilers, they secured a 5-3 win, followed by a 3-2 win against the Devils and 4-3 against the Winnipeg Jets.

However, their win streak ended in another encounter with the Oilers in which they suffered a 3-2 loss. But they immediately bounced back with a massive 4-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. This is impressive, considering all five teams are playoff contenders.

Ducks lost 50 games last season and missed the playoffs as one of the league's worst teams. This year, they have improved their record to 17-18-1 and are currently placed sixth in the Pacific Division. Vatrano has scored six points in the Ducks' five-game stretch.

Frank Vatrano’s strong performance this season and his leadership make him an important part of the Ducks' future.
