Team Canada's campaign at the 2025 World Juniors ended after a 4-3 defeat to Czechia on Thursday.
After going down 3-1 in the first period, Canada showed resilience and fought back to level the score at 3-3 in the third period. However, a late goal from Adam Jecho sealed the win for Czechia and secured their place in the semifinals of the World Juniors.
The Czechia squad was pumped up after the win and celebrated by singing the Canadian goal song in the locker room.
Here's how fans on X (formerly Twitter) reacted to Czechia's locker room celebration. One tweeted:
"Trolling is universal."
Another chimed in:
"Canada is a poverty hockey country. Cant win a Stanley Cup or a world juniors. Tough scene."
Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
"SAVAGE TROLL JOB!" a second fan posted.
"To the victor goes the spoils”. If Canada was better, they’d have won. Time to start selecting the best and add around the edges. Maybe be a bit more disciplined. It’s fine, Canada will bounce back, we can’t win them all. No need for a summit/inquiry…. Just do better next time," one opined.
"It’s great that they have their moment. But they should always remember that what goes around comes around and someday they will have the moment Canada is having. So they should enjoy it while they can," posted another.
"Lmao canada is so down bad. that easton cowan kid is absolute cheeks, cant wait to see him on the leafs," another chimed in.
Notably, the defeat marked a historic moment for Canada, as they have now been eliminated in the quarterfinals in consecutive years for the first time, with both losses coming at the hands of Czechia.
