The Detroit Red Wings' Tyler Bertuzzi is currently the subject of trade rumors. According to the TSN's Darren Dreger, the Wings are listening to offers for Bertuzzi and are seemingly interested in completing a trade in the coming days.
Replying to a tweet, Darren Dagger said:
"A refresher for the trade market? Big week for the Red Wings. With how Boston, Toronto, and Tampa Bay have loaded up, Detroit is again listening to interest in Bertuzzi. Ask is a 1st plus."
NHL fans were amazed by this information as most people pointed out that the Wings are in the race for the playoffs, and it is not the right time for them to trade a player like Bertuzzi, who is very talented.
Here are a few such reactions:
One user tweeted:
"Detroit has such a good young team, I think they sneak into the playoffs. They should run their ufas as their own rentals and help their young guns get some playoff experience instead of selling and missing the playoffs."
Tyler Bertuzzi's career stats
After starting his professional journey with the Detroit Red Wings in 2016-17, Tyler Bertuzzi has played over 303 games, scoring 87 goals and assisting 114 times.
Bertuzzi has spent over 17 minutes on the ice per game on average, with a shooting percentage of 14.5, scoring 12 game-winning goals in this period. But after a great 2021-22 season, he has played only 28 games and has only 14 goal contributions so far in the ongoing season.
All his other numbers have also dropped, which is one of the reasons the Wings are looking to trade him in the market.
Detroit Red Wings 2022-23 season overview
The Detroit Red Wings are placed fifth in the Eastern Conference Atlantic with 64 points. The Wings have been average offensively and have scored 177 goals in 58 games.
The combined effort of Dylan Larkin and Dominik Kubalik has provided the team with 38 goals and close to 60 assists. Though they have multiple scorers in the team, with seven players scoring over 10 goals each, they have struggled to create an impact so far.
Moreover, their defense has been sub-par, conceding more than three goals per game on average this season.
On a two-game losing streak, they are stuck in a difficult situation and would not want to drop further down the table.
The Detroit Red Wings will play their second consecutive game against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday, Feb 28.
