Brock Boeser played his 500th game of his career with a goal against the Florida Panthers. The right winger helped his team in a 4-0 win for the Vancouver Canucks. The 27-year-old received appreciation from his teammate Tyler Myers.
Both Boeser and Myers have been teammates at the Canucks for the last five seasons. The latter who is seven years senior took to Instagram to react to his achievement. He wrote "Eyyyooo Brockstar" with a clapping emoji.
Earlier in the day, ahead of the game, Myers also took pride in how well Boeser has grown as a player.
“To see him grow as a player, and to see the adversity he’s come through on and off the ice, it’s awesome to see,” Myers said. “It shows what kind of character guy he is. He’s an awesome guy to have in the room. He’s really stepping up as a leader as well. He’s got a bigger voice in the room the last couple years.”
Brock Boeser scored his 187th career goal on Thursday, his seventh of the season. He missed seven games last month after suffering a significant upper-body injury in a game against the Los Angeles Kings. Since his comeback, he has had three multi-point games.
Brock Boeser "grateful" for 500th game with Canucks
After the game, Brock Boeser spoke of his time in Vancouver and what it means to him.
“It means a lot. Very grateful. Great league to play in. To do it in one city. It means a lot to me. I love this place,” Boeser said.
Brock Boeser is in the final season of his three-year $19.95 contract extension with the Canucks. He will be looking for a significant increase in his annual average value (AAV) which is currently at $6.65 million when he becomes an unrestricted free agent.
He is reportedly looking for an AAV of more than $8 million and for a much longer term. The negotiations might be stretched as the Canucks have to make salary cap considerations for their top goal scorer of last season. Boeser led the team with 40 goals.
