San Jose Sharks alternate captain Tyler Toffoli deked his way to a fantastic goal in the first period of their Thursday night matchup against the Tampa Bay Lightning. The play saw him move on two Lightning defenseman before slotting it past Bolts goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy.

Toffoli’s wife Cat Belanger was quick to react to her beau’s slick toe drag with a little over six minutes remaining in the first half. She promptly quote tweeted a replay of the goal on X from the NHL’s official handle, and wrote:

“Oh okay 👀”

The game saw the Sharks snap an eight-game winless streak as they beat the Bolts 2-1 on the night. With his iconic goal, Toffoli took his score tally to 15 goals this season.

Mario Ferraro extended the Sharks’ lead in the second period, and San Jose held onto their advantage. Anthony Cirelli later scored for Tampa Bay, but it wasn’t enough to tie the game.

Sharks defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic made his season debut in his 1,297th career game after recovering from an upper-body injury. He notched the primary assist on Toffoli’s goal and is just three games shy of becoming the third defenseman in NHL history to play 1,300 games with one franchise.

Toffoli’s opening goal stole the limelight on Thursday night and replays of the play has since been making the rounds on the internet. Fans were quick to react to the goal in the comments on social media.
