Former NHLer Valeri Bure’s wife, Candace Bure, has made a heartfelt pledge. She has promised financial support for the family of Corey Comperatore, who was tragically killed during an assassination attempt at former President and presidential candidate Donald Trump’s rally.
Corey Comperatore, a firefighter, got shot while trying to protect his family during the gunfire aimed at Donald Trump. His wife, Allyson Comperatore, shared an emotional post on social media, which Candace Bure reshared on her Instagram story.
“I’m praying for this sweet family and will donate when a go fund me is set up. I will share that info too,” Candace wrote in the caption with heartbreak emojis.
Later she shared the link to the ‘Go Fund Me’ page and reshared a collage of Corey Comperatore’s pictures. The fund has raised over $900,000 as of Sunday evening.
In addition to Comperatore, two other people were badly hurt in the incident, according to Pennsylvania State Police. David Dutch, 57, and James Copenhaver, 74, from Moon Township, Pennsylvania, are in stable condition now, state police said in a news release.
Candace Bure opens up on love after 28 years of marriage with Valeri Bure
Last month, the Bure couple celebrated the 28th year of their marriage. In a recent interview with Fox News, Candace shared how their love has ‘grown’ and they continue to support each other through the highs and lows.
“The love has grown over the years,” Candace Bure said. “When you really do go through the depths of the valley, and you come back out on top as many times as you go through that roller coaster of life - within marriage, every time you come back on top it's like another notch in the belt of commitment, staying together.”
She mentioned how much she continues to love Valeri and acknowledged their three decades of togetherness.
“We've been together for 30 years, and that's a pretty big milestone. I truly love him more today and am more committed to him today than I was when we first got married. He's my partner for life.”
She also explained that their secret to a successful marriage is not just their commitment to God and following biblical principles, but also honoring each other. Candace and Valeri met for the first time during one of the latter’s NHL games more than thirty years ago.
