Vladimir Tarasenko is a professional ice hockey player who was born in Yaroslavl, Russia. He began playing hockey at a young age and honed his skills in the Russian hockey system. He played for several teams in Russia, including Sibir Novosibirsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), before being drafted 16th overall by the St. Louis Blues in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Tarasenko made his NHL debut with the Blues in the 2012-13 season and quickly established himself as one of the league's top goal-scorers. Over his nine seasons with the Blues, he recorded 30 or more goals in six seasons and was named to the NHL All-Star Game in 2015 and 2017.
