Former NHL player turned analyst Kevin Bieksa shared his thoughts on the Calgary Flames' hot start this season. Speaking on Sportsnet, Bieksa opined that the Flames' early success is very important for the team's confidence and vulnerability.

"I just think that the start they're having to this season is very important," Bieksa said.
"I wouldn't call them a vulnerable team, to start the year, but I would call them a vulnerable team. This start and piling up the wins, and getting success early, getting everybody on board definitely helps the confidence.

The Flames have jumped out to a 4-0 record to start the 2024-25 season. Bieksa believes this fast start has been crucial for Calgary's belief and morale, especially considering their collapse last season with 38-39-5 record.

According to Bieksa, if Calgary had gotten off to a slow start like the 2-4 Edmonton Oilers, it could have been very difficult for them to recover from mentally.

"The Oilers are at the bottom end of the standings but I stil feel like the Oilers feel like they can win every game. If Calgary was in the position the Oilers are in, I don't think they would feel that way, with how young they are." Bieksa added.

The Flames are now facing the Seattle Kraken for their fifth matchup.

HC Ryan Huska on Calgary Flames strong start to the season

Calgary Flames head coach Ryan Huska commented on his team's strong start to the season. Speaking before the game against Seattle Kraken, Huska noted that the winning streak has boosted his players' confidence levels.

“They feel better about themselves, for sure. You don't squeeze your stick quite as tight when you get your first win out of the way. I think that's one thing..." Huska said (as per NHL.com).

Huska also mentioned that the Flames are approaching each day with a focus on preparing for their opponent and not dwelling too much on the franchise record they might break.

"It's just the game. What's happened the last couple weeks or last few games, those are in the past," Huska stated. "What happens tomorrow, it doesn't matter. It's just today and that's all we get them to focus on."

With a perfect record through the first four games, the Calgary Flames will look to make it five straight wins to open the season.
