The Boston Bruins were on a road trip down south on Wednesday and were joined by their families in Florida. Some of the players' mothers competed in a margarita-making competition ahead of the Bruins's game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday.

The Bruins kicked off their traditional Moms’s Trip to Florida with the impromptu event. The moms were divided into four teams for the cocktail competition, based on their home geographical region: USA East, USA, Canada and Europe. The women had a great time mixing the drinks and tasting their concoctions before sharing their final entries to be judged.

The Bruins's official account shared a video post of the event on X (formerly Twitter). The caption read:

“Moms makin' margs! The B's mothers battled it out in a margarita cocktail competition. See who took home the crown!”

The Boston Bruins (21-19-5) had a mixed weekend on the ice in Florida. They lost 1-4 to Tampa Bay but edged the Stanley Cup holders, the Florida Panthers, 4-3 on Saturday afternoon to snap their six-game losing streak.

Bruins star David Pastrnak scored the winning goal against the Panthers with less than 2 seconds left in overtime. Pastrnak had two goals and one assist on the night, which takes his tally to six goals in the team’s past five games.

Boston's defensive and penalty kill weaknesses were evident against Tampa Bay. Following a scoreless first period, the Lightning scored twice in the second and third periods. The Bruins managed just one consolation goal in the third, preventing a second consecutive shutout.

The Bruins will be looking for revenge in their next match against the Lightning in Boston on Tuesday night.

Boston Bruins' annual traditional Moms Trip in Florida this year

The Bruins kicked off the annual tradition with the players' mothers joining them for practice at the Warrior Ice Arena on Wednesday. The Bruins's official Instagram account also shared a spoof video featuring Brad Marchand’s mother, Lynn Marchand, mimicking her son’s mannerisms and actions.

The Bruins captain and his family have enjoyed joining family-member trips since the NHL launched the tradition a decade ago.

“It’s special. It’s always a treat to have our moms with us,” Marchand said via NHL.com. “It’s such a unique experience. For them to be able to see our everyday life and everything they’ve helped us accomplish, our daily routine, and just have that time together. It’s rare to have 1-on-1 time at this stage of our life with our parents. To have it is pretty special. In a unique environment, it’s been a lot of fun.”

The Boston Bruins hope the trip will boost player morale as they fight for a playoff spot.
