Montreal Canadiens Cole Caufield and Anaheim Ducks' Trevor Zegras are good friends and have been captured together frequently. Their friendship developed while playing for The United States men's national ice hockey team in international hockey games.
On Wednesday, a fan reshared a video that Zegras had posted on his Instagram story.
"Cole Caufield you silly lil goofball," The caption of the post read.
In the video, Caufield can be seen in full Bauer gears as he approached the camera placed in the nets. The camera was pointed vertically, and as Caufield tried to pick it up, his head bumped into the goalpost, prompting him to say, "Ouch". Everyone nearby started laughing, including Caufield, even though his helmet was on.
Habs shared a picture of Caufield and Zegras in Team USA jerseys on Reddit.
On Dec 26, 2020, Spittin' Chiclets shared a video on X of the two practicing together while having fun.
Trevor Zegras's NHL offseason trade rumor might make Cole Caufield his NHL teammate
Per a recent NHL trade rumor, Trevor Zegras was linked to the Montreal Canadiens for an offseason trade. He could join the team after playing with Cole Caufield for Team USA.
Habs fans have long hoped for this reunion, given Zegras's impressive record of 55 goals and 154 points over 211 games. A dynamic two-way forward, Zegras can play both center and wing positions.
Last season, Zegras showed his commitment to the Ducks despite a broken ankle, a lower-body issue and persistent trade rumors.
To acquire Zegras, the Canadiens would have to offer more than just a few draft picks. Further, they would have to create cap space to accommodate his $5.75 million annual average salary. Ducks General Manager Pat Verbeek has remained silent on the likelihood of a trade involving Zegras. Pierre Lebrun reported to TSN’s Jay Onrait in February:
"The Ducks have listened on Trevor Zegras. My understanding is they haven’t phoned a single team and brought up his name."
This indicates that while the Ducks are open to offers, they are not actively seeking to trade him.
