Jeff Skinner in action in a game against the Panthers

The Buffalo Sabres, coming off a win in their last game and two goals from Jeff Skinner, beat Florida Panthers 3-1 in their second away game on Friday (February 24) night.

Skinner scored twice to register the 600th point of his career, with the assists coming from Tage Thompson. However, it was the third-period goal from Skinner that was applauded by fans, as he scored from an acute angle to provide his team a two-goal buffer.

NHL Twitter responded in awe of Skinner's effort. One fan said:

"Buffalo beats Florida on the 2nd of back-to-back thanks in large part to Jeff Skinner & Craig Anderson. Islanders losing tonight adds to the fun in Western NY. Sabres and/or Red Wings could be making a playoff appearance ahead of schedule in a couple months."

Jeff Skinner Career Stats

Jeff Skinner started his professional career with the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2010-11 season.

After spending eight seasons and playing over 600 games for them, he joined the Buffalo Sabres in 2018. He has been a regular for them since then, averaging over 60 games per season. Having played over 906 games, the 30-year-old has 320 goals and 278 assists, averaging over 17 minutes on the ice.

Jeff Skinner is expected to end the season with over 80 points. With 24 goals with 34 assists already, it will be no surprise if he achieves that, as there are almost 30 games left in the league stage.

Buffalo Sabres 2022-23 Season Overview

The Buffalo Sabres have recovered well from a slump to record their 30th win of the season to move fourth in the Eastern Conference Atlantic Division with 64 points. They're well in the mix to end the league stage in the top four.

The Sabres have never had any problem scoring goals, thanks to their explosive offensive setup, which has registered 200 goals this season. However, their defense has had poor returns, conceding almost 3.5 goals per game.

They have improved recently, though, with two wins on the trot and a solid team display, ahead of their meeting with the Washington Capitals at home on Sunday (February 26).
