Marc-Andre Fleury is one of the most interesting and erratic players in the NHL. From world-class pranks to sensational quotes, Fleury has proved to be one of the most personal and likable players in the league.

So what would happen if one of the league’s biggest personalities got in a fight? Well, it almost happened on Wednesday night when Fleury’s Minnesota Wild played the St. Louis Blues, and the Minnesota Wild socials picked everything up from the mic’d up goaltender.

Marc-Andre Fleury caught on mic during near fight with Jordan Binnington in Wild-Blues

The situation began almost scarily for the Minnesota Wild. Ryan Hartman buried a scoring opportunity on Jordan Binnington for the fourth of the period and the fifth goal allowed by Binnington on the night.

Binnington lunged at the celebratory Hartman with an intent to injure with his goalie stick. A scrum insured between Binnington and the Wild players.

As the refs were separating Binnington from the Wild, Marc-Andre Fleury flew down the ice to meet the St. Louis Blues goaltender and start a fight. As captured by the MInnesota Wild social team, Fleury was screaming the words “Let’s Go. Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.” as he sprinted down the ice to meet Binnington.

Before Binnington and Fleury could get started, however, the refs pulled Fleury away from the two and separated them. Fleury said to the referee:

“No, No, No, No, we're not done. Come on, it’ll be good!”

Always a spoil for good entertainment, he implored the referees to let him fight Binnington as he was pushed away from the Blues goaltender. He continued:

“He Always wants to fight somebody, you know? It’ll be fun, no? Get the crowd going a bit, yeah?”

Unfortunately, for Marc-Andre Fleury, the crowd would get going, although not the way the Wild goalie wanted. Binnington skated off the ice, pumping up the fans, but was unaware of the upcoming penalty. A match ejection for intent to injure Hartman, followed up by a suspension for three games handed the day after.

For Fleury, though, it was a goalie fight opportunity missed. Fleury dejectedly skated back to his net.

“I’ll just get my stuff, I don’t like having my hair like this, you know?”

The Wild responded immensely from their goalie’s spark. They scored more goals against the Blues than they have against any team all season, and trounced the team 8-5 to move within a single point of the lead in the Central Division.
