Connor McDavid skips vacation with Leon Draisaitl to lead team Canada at 4 Nations Face-Off

Connor McDavid will lead Team Canada at the 2025 NHL 4 Nations Face-Off this February. The tournament will take place in Montreal and Boston and will feature Canada, the U.S., Sweden and Finland. Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Mitch Marner and Cale Makar are also part of Canada’s 23-player roster.

McDavid said it is special to represent Canada and play alongside some of the best players. He decided to skip a vacation with Leon Draisaitl to take part in the tournament. He also added that he looks forward to the Canada-U.S. game on a Saturday night in Montreal, calling it an exciting atmosphere.

"Nowhere else I'd rather be than, than in Montreal and Boston on those two weeks, special representing your country, special team to be a part of, going to be a great event," McDavid said. "Canada vs US on a Saturday night in Montreal. Doesn't get much better than that. Honestly, it's going to be electric."

Team Canada’s roster includes elite forwards like Brad Marchand and defensemen like Alex Pietrangelo. Goaltenders Jordan Binnington, Adin Hill and Sam Montembeault will compete for the starting role.

Connor McDavid is excited to play with Crosby, MacKinnon and Sam Bennett, his former minor hockey line mate. He hopes their past chemistry will remain strong.

"Hard not to say Sidney Crosby. Hard not to say Nathan MacKinnon. Two guys that are just amazing, some of the greatest ever. It's going to be special. Play with them. Guys like Cale Makar, really excited about that. Sammy Bennett was my minor hockey line mate for eight years, so hopefully there's little chemistry there between us still. Looking forward to playing with him as well," McDavid said.

The 4 Nations Face-Off will be the first best-on-best tournament in eight years.
