Wayne Gretzky's youngest daughter, Emma, celebrated the holidays in the snowy Aspen mountains of Colorado, surrounded by her sister Paulina, Paulina's husband, professional golfer Dustin Johnson and other loved ones.

Emma shared glimpses of her mountain retreat on her Instagram account.

Fans were treated to photos of Emma by the campfire at night, as well as stories of the group enjoying card games together.

Emma is a student-athlete at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where she's an active member of the tennis team.

The Gretzky family has always been deeply involved in sports, and Wayne has been a source of inspiration for his children. In an interview with the Ventura County Star, the hockey icon expressed his hope for his daughter's athletic pursuits.

"If you enjoy it, and work hard and continue to progress, good things can happen," Gretzky said. "For us, as parents our goal for Emma is to love [tennis], work hard and keep working hard at it, because it's a huge commitment."

Emma appeared in the 2013 film "Palo Alto" alongside Emma Roberts and James Franco. She is in a relationship with Stone Eby, who plays college football at SMU.

Wayne Gretzky talks about his family and Christmas gift

During an episode of Spittin' Chiclets last week, Gretzky expressed how fortunate he is to have a family.

"I'm so fortunate, I got five healthy kids, five beautiful healthy grandchildren and they don't want for anything. They just love having family around. And that's what life is all about."

He revealed that the best Christmas gift he ever received as a child was a Gordie Howe jersey, noting that as a kid, he didn't want anything extravagant, just something that would make him feel good about what he loved.

Gretzky reflected on how Christmas wishes were much simpler back then:

"We weren't asking for the world. We weren't asking for a new car, we just wanted something that would really entice us and make us feel good about what we believe in and what we love. That's what makes Christmas, right?"
